About me

After completing my undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2001 I ran a small Engineering business before starting work at UWE as a Structures Technician in late 2002. Outside of work my interests include cycling, hillwalking, nature, motorcycling, aircraft and the use and restoration of historic vehicles. Following on from previous work on hybrid vehicle drive-train systems I studied part time for a PhD which was completed in 2017. The thesis title was "The Effectiveness of Regenerative Braking in Hybrid Vehicles". 

Area of expertise

Experimental stress analysis, laboratory support for stress analysis practicals, materials testing and strain gauging.
