Area of expertise
My expertise is in extracellular matrix biology and cell adhesion. My research has focused on the chronic inflammatory disorders osteoarthritis (OA) and atherosclerosis; including disease pathogenesis and cell signalling mechanisms, identifying biomarkers of disease, and tissue engineered (TE) cartilage. I am particularly interested in the role of small leucine rich proteoglycans as potential biomarkers and therapeutic targets for OA (and other chronic inflammatory disorders); and identifying biomarkers which predict the quality of TE cartilage, for the treatment of OA.
