About me

I am co-Founder and Director of the Institute of Bio-sensing Technology (IBST). IBST champions the leading international conference on Bio-sensing Technology, underwritten by Elsevier, for which I am the Scientific Chair. My research focus is on the development of novel instrumentation for bio-sensing applications and I have collaborated with industry and academic partners on over 20 bio-sensing projects in the last 5 years. I am PI for the £4M South West Microelectronics iNet, co-Director of the £2M Alternative Testing and In-Vitro Monitoring Business Technology Centre and I hold a Royal Academy of Engineering Enterprise Fellowship.

Area of expertise

Current projects:
Development of magnetometer immunoassay technology for the rapid and cost effective detection of endemic animal diseases and pathogens (zoonoses) (TSB/BBSRC)
Design and optimisation of a Saliva-based Point-Of-Care bioSensor for noninvasive monitoring of COPD exacerbations (NIHR)
Centre for Alternative Testing and In-vitro Monitoring (EU)
Development of magnetometer technology for food safety assays (TSB)
South West Microelectronics iNet (ERDF)
Electrochemical sensor for metal toxicity alert (TSB)
